Chapter History

The Beta Chapter of Phi Sigma Nu was chartered on April 18, 2001 at NC State University. Phi Sigma Nu's Founding Principles are: Leadership, Individuality, Community, Honesty, Wisdom, Pride and Unity.

Their Mission Statement is:

We, the Brothers of Phi Sigma Nu, empower Native Men to collectively engage in academic, social, cultural and physical realms to promote and inspire growth in tribal families, tribal communities, the United States of America and the world at large.

National History

Phi Sigma Nu (ΦΣΝ) is the oldest and largest American Indian fraternity in the United States. Founded on February 13, 1996 at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Today, there are eleven undergraduate chapters (seven active, two provisional and two inactive) and two professional chapters (one active and one provisional) – with over 400 Brothers representing more than 55 tribal nations.

The eight Founding Fathers of Phi Sigma Nu, along with their Native Nations, are:
